Semi-private pedagogical session by Pierre Chesneau

Maximum 9 participants!

Are you not finding what you need in big festival workshops, or even in more focused weekend pedagogic propositions? Maybe you feel you would benefit from some one-to-one time, but are not quite ready to jump into a private lesson? Then we have a thing for you: a rare and valuable middle ground, the Semi-private Pedagogic Session with Pierre Chesneau.

This is not a classic workshop built around one fixed theme for everyone in the room. It is a small-scale working space, with less than 10 participants, where the material comes from the dancers themselves: your questions, your technical research, your sticking points, your curiosities, or simply the feeling that something in your dance needs a more direct kind of attention.

Each participant will practice one dance directly with the teacher and receive personal feedback, concrete direction, and a line of work to explore. From there, the session keeps moving through practice with the other participants, with regular changes of partners and roles, so that the feedback can be tested, embodied, and refined right away.

The subjects of focus are not decided in a rigid way beforehand. They are shaped fluidly between the participants and the teacher, according to what is actually present in the room. That is the whole point: instead of squeezing yourself into a predefined topic, the work starts from where you really are.

In pedagogical terms, this format sits somewhere between the broad attention of a large workshop and the undivided attention of a private lesson. And that changes the value of the time. The session is shorter than a usual group workshop (2,5 hours without a break instead of 5 hours), but the interaction is denser, more personal, and often much more impactful. Less quantity, perhaps, but a very different quality of exchange.

This is the place to go more personal, to clarify what feels unclear, to challenge habits that are not serving you anymore, and maybe to unlock something new, or something old, in a deeper way.

Dances: The focus is on couple dances only: mazurka, scottish, waltz, polka, and irregular waltzes.

Length: Each session lasts 2h30, and there are two sessions in a row. Registration is for one session at a time, so that each block remains its own focused working space.
