Introduction Workshop to the Transformative Social Dance (TSD) Method – Day 1 – Pierre Chesneau

A new way to understand, enjoy, and grow through dance

Have you heard about Pierre’s brand new pedagogic method but Tuesday nights don’t work for you?
Or maybe you’d love to join the Labo lessons and continue the exploration but you missed all the content from the 1st trimester?

These two workshops are made for you!

During the Labo (level 5 – 8) lessons from September till December, Pierre introduced the four pillars of his Transformative Social Dance Method – a complete system for anyone who wants to dance with more pleasure, presence, understanding, and personal growth.
These two workshop days offer the full introduction level of the method, so that newcomers can catch up and regular dancers can deepen their personal foundations, before we build upward together in the weekly classes.

Program

Day 1 : 17/01 – Introduction to pillars 1 & 2 : Musicality + Physical organization

This first day is all about building the tools to feel great while you dance. It's open for all dance levels. No specific experience required. Just come with curiosity.

Musicality

  • How do you enter the music?
  • How do steps become rhythm, conversation, play?
  • We explore timing, placement, and interpretation. So movement becomes music made visible.

Physical organization

  • How does movement become a form of expression rather than the expression of habits?
  • Through grounding and physical awareness work, we learn to move with efficiency, flow, and personality.

You’ll discover early keys that make every dance more enjoyable, open up improvisation in couple dances, as well as character embodiment in traditional dances. A perfect on-ramp into the TSD method.

Day 2 : 24/01 – Introduction to pillars 3 & 4 : Connection systems + Cultural analysis

For intermediate+ & advanced dancers, who know the basic steps of common folk/trad dances.

Once the inner tools are there… it’s time to connect and reconnect!

Connection systems

  • Partner communication, group dynamics, spatial awareness – how we listen, how we propose, how we co-create movement with others. How we move, with others.

Cultural analysis

  • Why does each dance feel different?
  • What social function, what energy, what “character” lives inside a rondeau, a bourrée, a mixer?
  • Understanding this unlocks creativity and respect
  • Tradition becomes a living space, a stage for cultural expression, embodiment, and playfulness.

A complete start… then we rise higher

Do 1 workshop if you want, they stand alone. But together, they give you a PROMO and:

  • the whole Introduction Level of the TSD Method
  • all the tools you need to join the Labo II lessons on Tuesday night and continue upward
  • a clearer, stronger foundation for any dance you already love, and an open door to the ones you always looked at from afar.

“Beyond the steps” isn’t just a slogan, it’s a way to make every dance feel better: more connected, more expressive, more meaningful, more you.

If you’re ready for a richer dance experience, come join the beginning of something that keeps growing!

PROMOTION

Dancers who actually attend both workshops will receive a cash refund on 24 January: €10 for normal or fair trade price, €5 for discount price.

Pierre Chesneau has been a social dancer since childhood and has spent over 16 years teaching internationally Bal Folk and Tango. His approach brings together functional movement, musical sensitivity, human connection, and cultural understanding. It is a method focused not on collecting steps or figures, but on unlocking what makes dancing truly enjoyable, in every repertoire.
