Bal Kabál & Trio Loubelya @ La Tricoterie
17:00 – 17:30 Dance initiation – Sophie & Jessica
17:45 – 19:45 Kabál
20:00 – 22:00 Trio Loubelya
Kabál plays contemporary folk music, firmly rooted in the Low Countries. Their original compositions spring from the minds of Katrien Bos and Richard de Waardt. Artistic music brimming with love, wonder, experimentation, tradition and movement. Made to be savoured with open ears and your feet off the floor.
Four seasoned musicians from Flemish Brabant, with roots spread across the Low Countries, came together through a shared passion for danceable melodies and music with a heartbeat. They played their first concerts as a quartet in the summer of 2024, and that left them wanting more! In January 2025, they spent two days at Studio Trad, where they recorded their first EP, “VONK”.
Katrien Bos – Violin & Double Bass
Jo Zanders – Percussion
Mark van Dal – Guitar
Richard de Waardt – Accordion
At once intimate and eloquent, virtuosic and accessible, Trio Loubelya’s dance music is dynamic and moving. Just like the bond that has developed between its members, from dance to dance on the roads of Europe. The accordion’s sublime resonance provides a backdrop for a musical playground where the clarinet and saxophones – by turns subtle and mischievous – challenge the rich depth of the double bass.
Three strong personalities, for sure: Marie Constant, Florent Lalet and Rolland Martinez, who here merge to form a fourth: the Trio Loubelya. Loubelya means ‘alive’.
Fair Trade price
Organising proper, enjoyable bals, with good musicians is expensive and labour intensive. Nevertheless, the ticket prices for these types of live events are relatively low. By choosing the Fair trade price for our bals (on a voluntary basis of course), you contribute to a more fair compensation of the work and the costs of the musicians and organisers. Many thanks in advance!
We invite you to read the text Code of conduct & dancing tips that applies for all of our activities and recommend you to watch this video on consent and communication on the dance floor.
