Stage Bretoense dansen – Mikuláš Bryan
Programma
Embodying rounds & chains from Brittany and elsewhere
Balfolk dancer’s guide to the oldest forms of dancing, and to his own body. We will be discovering the original principles behind the round and chain dances, observing how they transformed in the balfolk scene and experimenting without judgement to see what qualities we can take into our own dancing from the both worlds.
Diving deep in the natural movement concepts, we will get a little bit nerdy while trying to switch our brains off and our body intelligence on. We might also accidentally have some fun, and at the end we should be able to dance together in a more dynamic, yet more connected way.
This workshop will cover most of the balfolk dance floor standards from Brittany (an dro, hanter dro, rond de Saint Vincent, kost ar c’hoat, dañs plinn, gavotte de l’Aven), but also less common ones (gavotte des montagnes, rond de Landeda, rond de Loudéac, ridéé, laridenn) and some round dances from Poitou and elsewhere (demi-rond de l'Île d'Yeu, rond de Barbatre, demi-tour de Noirmoutier or rond d’Argenton).
The main focus though won’t be on the dances themselves, but on embodying the principles behind them. Because better understanding of those will allow us to join and enjoy any round or chain dance easily, and also to enjoy them exponentially more than we did before.
