Cindy Jans likes to imagine, with a smile, that she could dance before she could walk. It may not be entirely true, but she was already taking her first classical ballet lessons at the age of six. Not long after, she switched to jazz dance and, as well as enjoying the dancing itself, she also cherished the friendships she formed within that dance group.
In 2007, whilst studying to become a social and cultural worker in Leuven, she attended her first folk ball. This introduction opened up a whole new world, and gradually her desire to learn more about dance grew through various dance workshops and festivals.
After many years of dancing, she felt the urge to share the joy of it with others. During youth camps, Cindy gained her first experience of giving introductory dance classes. She has also had several years’ experience teaching dance classes in Limburg.
From September 2026, she would like to continue pursuing her passion closer to home. She is doing so in Mechelen, where she is now part of the team of Frisse Folk.
